Joshua Cates (July 2003)

Joshua has a background in computer science, biology, and mathematics. He has worked on various problems in computer vision, including image processing (differential geometry and p.d.e-based methods), image segmentation, and computed tomography. He received his MS in Computer Science in May 2000 from the University of TN, Knoxville and is currently a Research Associate at the Scientific Computing and Imaging Institute, University of Utah.

He is currently working as one of the principal architects of the National Library of Medicine's Insight Project (ITK), an international, open-source software initiative for the medical imaging community.

His project at Laboratory of Mathematics in Imaging, BWH, is to develop a general framework for levelset methods in ITK, working with Carl-Fredrik Westin, Karl Krissian and Raul San-Jose.
