Ed Chen M.D.

Ed is a research fellow in the Surgical Planning Laboratory at Brigham and Women's Hospital.

He was born in Goettingen, Germany on August 11 1968 and received his Medical Doctor's degree at Frankfurt University, Germany in 1995. He wrote his thesis about whiplash injuries and finished his internship in the Orthopaedics Department at the University Hospital Frankfurt, followed by 2 years residency in traumatology/orthopaedic surgery at the BG-Unfallkrankenhaus "Workman's Compensation Trauma Center", Hamburg.

Ed is part of a team that is developing a system combining fluoroscopy and laser scanner technology, in order to be able to project anatomical or other structures onto the patients surface intraoperatively. This can help reduce radiation dosage while enenabling new ways of minimal invasive surgery and interventional radiology.
