Special Skills
Kitaro has the ability to “produce something from nothing.” This means using a computer-aided design system (CAD) to make a real physical object starting from a design or sketch on a notebook. He has concentrated on developing things to be used in the operating room. For instance, he was a key player in the production of the Scrub Nurse Robot system, the Intraoperative Examination Monitoring for Awake Craniotomy, and the HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) transducer controlling manipulator. Last year he collaborated with Microsoft, focusing on the KINECT application system, and built the Non-touch Intraoperative Image Controllable System Opect as a commercially available product. This system helps surgeons' decision making during operations.
