Nicola Moscufo Ph.D.

Nicola Moscufo, Ph.D in Biochemistry, is Research Associate in the Department of Radiology, Brigham and Women's Hospital, and Instructor at Harvard Medical School. He carried out basic research in the field of molecular virology at the Italian National Institute of Health (Rome), at M.I.T. (Cambridge, MA) and at the New England Medical Center/Tufts University (Boston, MA). Since 2004 he is involved in clinical research in the field of neurology at Brigham and Women's Hospital. He utilizes quantitative neuroimaging techniques to characterize brain white matter abnormalities in the elderly population and to examine the relationship of those abnormalities with functional decline, particularly mobility and cognition. He is also interested in neurodegenerative diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis and in using imaging biomarkers to understand disease progression. More recently the focus of his research is studying the impact of diabetes on brain structure and function.
